Join us for an evening artist talk with Alivia Zivich, a Michigan based artist and curator from Detroit. All programming is free and open to the public. Evening begin at 7:30 with talks starting promptly at 8:00PM.
Alivia Zivich (she/her) received a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, and studied at Staedelschüle in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Her work observes the use of images to influence thought and our complicity as viewers in that process. Beyond producing art, Zivich uses curating and collaborative actions to define a context for her own work and widely intervene in the narrative of contemporary art. She has exhibited in Detroit, Los Angeles, Rotterdam, Vienna, Tokyo, and London. Recent exhibitions of her work include a solo show at Spaysky Fine Art Gallery LLC, Detroit, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit (MOCAD), and group shows at Francesca Pia, Zurich, and Halle für Kunst, Lüneberg. In 2005, she co-founded AA Records, an art and music label, with musician Nate Young (Wolf Eyes). Since 2012, Zivich has acted as Curatorial & Production Manager of DLECTRICITY, Detroit’s international art and technology festival. In 2013, Zivich co-founded What Pipeline, an artist-run gallery in Detroit. What Pipeline received the NADA NYC/Artadia Award in 2015 and Knight Arts Challenge Awards in 2014, 2016 and 2021.
